I've picked up a couple of really sweet romances this year, so I thought I'd put them together in a post. Women's Fiction often gets a bad rep but these two below were cute, thoughtful and fun - perfect summer reading!
Talk Bookish to Me by Kate Bromley
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I loved this super cute, super bookish rom-com about first love and second chances. Kara is a bookstagrammer and romance novelist living in New York City, who ends up meeting Ryan, her college boyfriend from a decade ago, at her best friend's pre-wedding celebrations. Instantly hostile to each other, the two are forced into each others company and have to find a way to resolve their differences without causing wedding chaos.
Meanwhile, Kara has some serious writer's block, a submission deadline looming and she discovers that sparring with her ex is inspiring her to write like never before....
Kate Bromley has written a romance full of interesting characters, a fun take on the enemies to lovers idea, with lots of bookish references. It is a great read for summer and I highly recommend it.

The Summer Job by Lizzy Dent
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Birdy is in her early thirties, single, unemployed following a string of low paid jobs, with no passion for life. Her only comfort is her lifelong, best friend Heather, a talented sommelier who has everything under control in life except her love life. When Heather drops an opportunity to go to a run down Scottish country hotel for a summer job, in favour of being whisked off to Italy by her current no good boyfriend, Birdy decides to go up to Scotland herself. After all, a run down hotel isn't going to need someone who knows more than a chardonnay or a merlot... do they? Of course, things get much more complicated from there for Birdy, since she's keeping a secret identity, she knows nothing about wine, and she's got the hots for the hotel's sensitive sous chef....
I adored this cute summer romance, which was as much about finding yourself and your passions in life, as it was about finding love. The story was sweet, and the descriptions of the food and drink were wonderful - I came away desperate for a 7 course Scottish tasting menu with paired fine wines! This is the perfect book for the Spring/Summer this year and I loved it.
